And adjusting to a more sedentary life, or finding a vocation outside the pitch that would sustain them (not financially since most of them retire very rich these days) is even tougher. Even if a player retires extremely rich at 40, he is young enough by the standards of most other professions, and would probably be looking at 25 more years of an active professional career in some other field.
